Baltimore Orioles -- Activated pitcher Rocky Coppinger off the
disabled list and placed him on the 40-man roster; exercised
othe 1998 option on the contract of outfielder Eric Davis.

New York Mets -- Named Jack Bown national cross-checker; named
Joe Morlan area scout supervisor for Indiana, Illinois and
Michigan; named Fred Wright assistant director of amateur
scouting.

New York Yankees -- Picked up the 1998 option on the contract of
outfielder Chad Curtis.

San Diego Padres -- Named Dave Stewart pitching coach.

San Francisco Giants -- Picked up the 1998 option on the
contract of pitcher Mark Gardner.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays -- Named John Franzone director of event
productions and entertainament; named Todd Schirmer as director
of audio-visual services.

Texas Rangers -- Agreed to terms with outfielder Alex Diaz on a
minor-league contract; announced that pitcher Terry Clark; pitcher
Bryan Eversgerd, catcher Henry Mercedes and outfielder Mike Simms
have refused outright minor-league assignments and been granted free
agency; named Bob Dernier minor-league outfield instructor and Jay
Eddings amateur scout.

Toronto Blue Jays -- Signed pitcher Christopher Mowday.

Golden State Warriors -- Placed guards Issac Burton and Dell
Demps, and forwards Antonio Lang and Larry Stewart on waivers;
traded guard Mark Price to the Orlando Magic for guard Brian
