WHAT IS THE VALUE INDEX:

The VALUE INDEX for hockey is a rating system that reflects each team's home 
and away overall performance to the current point in the season.  The ratings 
can be used to predict a money line for each game and the total goals.  These 
can be compared to a betting line to determine if there is any value.  When 
there is a significant money line or goal total difference between the VALUE 
INDEX and the betting line, an investment is recommended.


HOW TO USE THE VALUE INDEX:

POINTSPREAD Values are based on a scale where 5.0 is average. Teams with a
value higher than 5.0 are above average and teams with a value lower than
5.0 are below average. Ratings are based on overall performance and have
been calculated for performances HOME and AWAY. To calculate a predicted
pointspread for a game, compare the values of both teams and subtract the
value of the lower rated team from the value of the higher rated team. For
example, if team A is playing at team B you would compare the AWAY value of
team A to the HOME value of team B and subtract the lower value from the
higher value.  To calculate the predicted total points to be scored in a
game, add the away team's OVER/UNDER VALUE INDEX to the home team's
OVER/UNDER VALUE INDEX.  Use the OVERALL category if the teams are playing
on a neutral rink.
